WOW! This might be the best and most authentic sushi i’ve ever had in California. The sushi isn’t like anything you would have at your average sushi restaurant. This fish tastes so fresh. And don’t even get me started on the rice. The sushi rice they have is AMAZING. I could eat an entire bowl of it. If you don’t come at least once in your lifetime you’re missing out.

Every trip to LA includes a stop at Sugarfish in Pasadena. Every single time. The sushi quality is exceptional and the service matches it. They are accommodating without making you feel like you’re asking for anything and they are always happy to swap something out if needed. What I appreciate most is the atmosphere. It’s quiet. It feels like a genuine break from our crazy world. If you haven’t been, go. If you have, you already know.

Revisited SUGARFISH with my lovely wife and we were just as amazed as we were the first time around. We had a whole process of visiting as a guest and regardless if we were guest or not, the experience was fantastic as a whole. I'm big on sushi bars/restaurants presenting their dishes in a certain pattern/style and the speed matters as well. SUGARFISH does a great job at this as their set menus are the way to go although I see plenty going with a la carte which is also a great choice. My go to menu set here is the "Nozawa Trust Me" which has Edamame, Tuna/Chutoro Sashimi, Albacore, Salmon, & Sea Bream Rolls, Toro & Blue Crab Hand Rolls, Yellowtail & Hirame Sushi. Love their selections overall and can get you super full. They're all very delicious but my favorite has to go to the blue crab hand roll which is presented last on the menu set. Best for last as it's just super savory, melts in your mouth and has a great aftertaste, love it as a whole. Overall, a wonderful experience once again and it's say to safe that SUGARFISH is on top of my list when it comes to all time favorite restaurants. Great sushi spot near Malibu! I visited my second daughter who attends school nearby. Since this is a very popular spot, we expected a wait. My wife arrived first to put our names down, but even then, we had to wait over 40 minutes. It was actually nice to walk around the nearby shops while waiting. Important: They strictly check that your entire party is present before seating you. The interior is dimly lit and cozy (a bit tight, but intimate). We ordered the "Trust Me ($36)" course. The sushi is served piece by piece, and it was delicious. At first, I wondered if the portions would be enough, but by the end of the meal, I was completely full and satisfied. Highly recommended if you are looking for a stylish and tasty sushi place in this area. The evening lighting adds a wonderful vibe!

Sugarfish Pasadena is simple, sleek, and all about letting the sushi shine. The Trust Me menu is the way to go — a curated selection of fresh, high-quality nigiri and rolls that consistently hits the mark. The vibe is casual but polished, service is efficient, and while it’s a bit pricey, it’s worth it for a reliable, no-fuss sushi experience.
